SQL Programmer

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Reporting Services

Job Description

  • Collaborate with team members in the updating of Microsoft Access databases to SQL databases
  • Develop reports using SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
  • Participate in the development of new applications
  • Provide application maintenance
  • Design, code, test, debug, maintain, implement and document applications and systems
  • Install and configure software
  • Provide and receive mentoring and training with other team members

Skill Requirements

  • High level of technical knowledge
  • Able to work in fast paced environment
  • Well organized and self-driven
  • Able to manage multiple projects
  • Skilled at creating SQL statements, views, stored procedures and functions
  • Create, use and run queries with VBA code
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Access
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Knowledge of best practices with relational databases
  • Capable of troubleshooting common database issues
  • Understanding of principles of Object Oriented programming
  • Problem solving, System analysis and design, Program analysis and design
  • Team skills: adaptable, collaboration, creative, negotiation, communication, presentation and group dynamics
